Round Britain Walkers
call into St Ives Lifeboat House
First thing Monday Morning
(23rd April 2007), three round Britain walkers raising money for the RNLI
and Guidedogs, called into St Ives Lifeboat Station to say hello before
starting off for their days walk to the Portreath area.
The three walkers, Soapy,
Bubbles & Havoc (Wendy Bathard, Paul Barber and their dog) from Bovey
Tracey gave up their jobs for this project, and set off from John O'Groats,
Scotland on 13th November last year, with the intention of walking
ʽclockwiseʼ around Britain in 50 weeks. Their aim is to raise £50,000 from
the walk to be split between the RNLI and Guidedogs, some of the money
raised prior to the trip, but most raised during the walk.. They arrived
at Lands End on Sunday 15th April, not quite half way through the trip but
getting there, reaching St Ives on Sunday afternoon 22nd April.

Soapy, Bubbles & Havoc are
undertaking the trip with no support crew, carrying all their own gear and
staying mostly in their tent, calling on the hospitality of friends when
they can, as they did in St Ives.
When asked how the trip was
going, Paul said that the winter had not actually been too bad, however
things had slowed up when they reached the difficult coastline of
Cornwall. Even with our testing Coastline to slow them down, after 23
weeks of walking they are only a couple of days behind schedule and should
arrive back in John O'Groats this November.
If anyone would like to see
more about their trip, or would like to help or make a donation, they are
currently heading North East up the Cornish Coast, alternatively you can
visit their website at www.tvh3.com/coastalwalk.htm.
