St Ives To Get New Inshore Lifeboat on Monday
31 January 2007

On Monday, 5th February 2007, St Ives Lifeboat Station is to receive a new Inshore Lifeboat to replace the old style D Class ILB Spirit of the RCT.

The new lifeboat, D668 Colin Bramley Parker is one of the new type D Class called IB1, which were introduced into service in 2003. The new IB1 is a completely re-engineered version of the old D Class, using new materials, with a much improved equipment fit out including a Chart Plotting GPS, and a bigger engine with electric start. These combine to provide a boat which has much better performance in terms of speed, manoeuvrability and navigation capability. The attached Information sheet provides further details on the design of the new IB1.

A number of exercises have been planned around the arrival of the new Inshore Lifeboat on Monday 5th February.

The official naming ceremony for the Colin Bramley Parker will follow later in the Spring.
